Colm Laverty is the Content Director at Big+Bold, bringing his extensive experience as a filmmaker, photographer, and musician to the team. Rooted in Northern Ireland’s vibrant arts scene, Colm has collaborated with prestigious organisations such as BBC Radio Ulster, Northern Ireland Screen, and Warner Music Ireland.

 

Collaborating frequently with Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive, Colm has helped produce an array of acclaimed non-fiction shorts which utilise a wealth of vibrant archive footage to explore local heritage and forgotten stories. He is also the director of a new documentary, “The Bannfoot Ferry” (2024), which delves into a lost piece of early broadcasting history through Ulster Television’s film archives. 

 

Before Big+Bold, Colm was a Senior Content Creator at AVB Group and a freelance filmmaker and photographer for over a decade. His work spans music videos, short films, documentaries, and concert photography, capturing high-profile acts like Beck, Johnny Marr and St. Vincent. His versatile skill set includes video directing, motion graphics and sound design, making him a vital asset in delivering high-quality visual content. Colm holds a BA in Film Studies from Queen’s University Belfast and is a member of Irish Screen Editors. His documentary work and deep connection to Northern Ireland’s cultural heritage showcase his commitment to impactful storytelling.
