David Nurse

Managing Director

David Nurse is the Founder and Managing Director of Big+Bold, Northern Ireland's first Certified B Corp™ agency. He brings 16 years of experience in leadership, strategy and digital innovation. Before founding the studio he held a dual role as Group Deputy Managing Director of AV Browne and Managing Director of McCann Ireland, where he led award-winning integrated campaigns for local and global clients. He has led projects and accounts for Microsoft, Deloitte, UK Government, BT, BBC, Insurance Office of America, Zenith and Zurich.

His expertise spans business leadership, strategic planning and digital direction. That combination drives client brands and campaigns, and it drives Big+Bold's own growth. He is also the founder of IRENE, the all-Ireland creative network.

David's route into the industry was not the usual one. While at university studying a medical degree, he built an app called Distress Signal. It was named the most innovative app in the UK and in Ireland in 2012 and was covered by the Sunday Times, Engadget, National Geographic and the Apple Blog. The app was later sold and became the precursor to the modern SOS function on iPhone.

His strategic work has been recognised with several awards from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. He holds leadership and digital marketing diplomas from Hyper Island Sweden and Google.

David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Honorary Secretary of the Energy Institute, a council member of the Publicity Association of Northern Ireland, and Certified Carbon Literate.
